Mountain Bike Holidays
When summer comes, I love to go on mountain bike holidays. These holidays will usually take place either in spots especially designed for bikers, camping locally, or I can travel to exotic countries and try their trails.
With this type of holidays, you are extremely active, so you get fit, while enjoying superb scenery.
If you don’t have experience with mountain bikes, you might be a bit overwhelmed by the hills you will meet. For example, going to Morzine (France) you will encounter many bumpy trails and slopes that are challenging, so you should go there only if you have a bit of experience behind you with trails that are difficult.
If you’re a beginner, you should probably go with a flatland trail with a single track.
Spain is one other great place to go if you want to do mountain biking. It has great trails and offers a number of different experiences, like going by the coast on mountain trails, doing road biking long cross country, or going through forest trails and practicing jumps. If you’re a beginner, the Costa Le Luz might be a good bet, as the slopes in the area aren’t that steep, but the scenery is still great.
If you don’t have too much money, you can choose a UK weekend break instead, since it has a number of mountain peaks that are short, flatland cross country routes and forest trails. All these can keep you quite busy for a weekend. You can go on some of the popular bike trails and do a bit of camping as well.
Some of the world’s best mountain bike parks are located in Canada (Whistler in British Columbia) and United States (Mammoth Mountain in California).
If you are an experienced biker, you will enjoy the forest trail, which will have small mounds where you can do jump biking or some cross country riding if you’re up to it, all this while enjoying some great views.
