Downhill Mountain Biking
Downhill biking is an extreme style of biking, which usually implies going on steeper slopes, doing sharp turns and drops, getting over some obstacles, and all these at the highest speed possible.
This is a well established extreme sport and there are many events of Downhill Mountain biking all over the world.
These competitions are usually done on courses which have mountains or steep sloped, some of the locations being in the Rocky mountains or in the Alps. With this type of competition, the main objective is to get to the bottom of the mountain as fast as possible.
In many cases, bikers will do these downhill trails to have some fun, and not necessarily for the speed. Most people consider mountain biking a great combination of feeling an adrenaline rush, seeing remote places and scenery, plus getting to control a bike on rough terrain, at high speeds.
In most cases, these bike parks and bike trails are designed for mountain bikers, they have attractions and they are designed to handle their needs. For example, in many cases these sites will have chair lifts, which take the bikes and the bikers to the place where they will start their descent, so you don’t waste a lot of time climbing up the mountain with your bike.
In many cases, these biking sites are used for skiing during the winter and become centers for downhill biking during the summer. There are quite a few places in Europe where you can do downhill mountain biking and some of these parks are found in Italy, Austria or France. Besides the trails, these parks will also offer drops and obstacles, which make downhill biking more fun.
Even though it is very fun, this type of biking is also quite dangerous, so you should always use safety gear, even if you are an advanced user.
